Pseuderanthemum carruthersii
Native from the Solomon Islands to Vanuatu, this evergreen shrub belongs to the Acanthaceae family. Long cultivation has produced forms with differing leaf shapes and colors. Leaves are simple, opposite, and pointed, with smooth or wavy margins. Dark purple-leaved forms can bear white tubular flowers with pink markings at the throat. Flower clusters develop at branch tips or in leaf axils. Photographed in Colombia.
