Portulaca oleracea
Portulaca oleracea is a low-growing succulent annual with a nearly worldwide distribution in warm and temperate regions. Reddish fleshy stems spread across open ground and carry thick, rounded leaves. Small yellow flowers open in bright light and are followed by capsules containing many seeds. The plant commonly occupies disturbed soil and sunny garden sites. Research-grade observations document it in Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, and Peru. Photographed in Colombia.
