Yellow spiky inflorescence extending from a reddish stem
Pitcairnia echinata

Native to Venezuela and Colombia, this tropical terrestrial species produces yellow or red flower. Its inflorescence is a branched panicle with woolly sepals covered in small tubercles, giving a hairy appearance. Photographed in Cauca Valley, Colombia at 1.300 meters. ​
