Piper linearifolium

Piper linearifolium is a tropical member of the pepper family recognized by its unusually narrow leaves. It grows as a woody shrub in humid mountain vegetation and produces the minute flowers typical of Piper on slender upright spikes. The long leaf blades and prominent parallel-looking veins give the plant a grasslike texture unlike broad-leaved relatives. Photographed in Florida.
