Pilea spruceana bronze green textured foliage with pale central bands and tiny pink flowers

Pilea spruceana

Pilea spruceana is a wet-tropical herb native from Ecuador to Peru and the Venezuelan Antilles. Its deeply textured leaves have dark bronze-green surfaces, pale central bands, and strongly raised veins. Small pinkish flowers are grouped in compact branching clusters above the foliage. Research-grade observations document the species in Ecuador, Panama, and Peru. It was formerly mislabeled as a form of Pilea involucrata. Photographed in Colombia.
