A woody flowering plant endemic to Madagascar, Phyllarthron bernierianum grows in the island’s tropical vegetation as a shrub or small tree. Members of this genus are distinguished by leaves divided into jointed segments, an unusual feature among related trees. Its large trumpet-shaped flowers have a pale pink, densely ruffled corolla and a yellow-orange throat. Photographed in Florida.
