Phlox floridana

Phlox floridana is a perennial herb native to the southeastern United States, particularly Florida and neighboring areas. Upright stems carry narrow leaves and terminal clusters of five-petaled flowers, usually in shades of pink, lavender, or purple. The species flowers during the warm growing season. Its narrow opposite leaves and relatively woody stem bases distinguish it from broader-leaved garden phlox species. Photographed in Florida.
