Pelargonium × hybridum
Commonly known as garden geranium, Pelargonium × hybridum is a product of hybridization between Pelargonium zonale and Pelargonium inquinans and there are numerous cultivars. Interestingly, the plant's cultivars have been so extensively bred that they are often regarded as a separate species altogether. It is a popular short-lived perennial plant with a tufted habit, growing up to 2 feet in length. A unique characteristic of garden geranium is the strong, unpleasant fishy odor emitted by its wet leaves. Photographed in Ibagué, Colombia.
