Musa ornata
Native from the eastern Himalaya to Myanmar, it is a clump-forming herbaceous perennial that reaches about ten feet tall. It produces upright flower clusters surrounded by showy pink to purple bracts. Small yellow flowers emerge in rows from beneath the bracts. New shoots arise near the parent plant, while the leaf bases form slender pseudostems characteristic of bananas. Photographed in Colombia.
