Mandevilla (species unidentified)

Native from Mexico through tropical America, Mandevilla is a genus that includes woody climbing vines, subshrubs and herbs. Its flowers have a tubular base that opens into five spreading lobes, forming funnel-shaped or salver-shaped corollas. The fruits are slender pods, sometimes with a beadlike outline, containing numerous seeds tipped with a tuft of hairs. The genus was named for Henry John Mandeville, who introduced plants to Europe. This vine remains unidentified to species. Photographed in the department of North Santander, Colombia.
