Leonotis leonurus (Lion's Tail)

A shrub originating from southern Africa. Traditionally, it has been utilized to treat a variety of ailments including tuberculosis, jaundice, high blood pressure, diabetes, and snake bites. The presence of a chemical constituent called leonurine is speculated to play a pivotal role in the plant's medicinal attributes. Photographed in Bogotá, Colombia.
