Justicia spicigera
An evergreen shrub native to Central America that can tolerate low temperature in the upper 20s. The leaves contain various phytochemicals like carbohydrates, pectins, flavonoids, tannins, essential oils, and minerals and traditionally has been used to make a tea or utilized as a dye due to their ability to color the water deep blue or indigo when boiled.
