Justicia namatophila
Endemic to Colombia, it is a subshrub recorded in Antioquia and Caldas. It grows in humid tropical habitats near streams and rivers. Botanists classify it among the rheophytes of the RĂo Claro and RĂo Samaná Norte area: plants adapted to seasonally flooded river margins and strong currents. Its species name refers to running water. The pink to purple flowers have a two-lipped corolla, with white markings on the three-lobed lower lip. Photographed in the central Andes of Colombia.
