Justicia leonardii (Orange Justicia)
Native to Mexico, this shrub produces orange to reddish orange tubular flowers without contrasting markings. The lower lip usually curls back, while small, narrow bracts accompany the flowering spikes or branched clusters. Its leaves are noticeably hairy, a useful distinction from the similar Justicia spicigera. In Mexico, it grows in thorn scrub and several forest types, often over limestone, between about 755 and 4,920 feet. Flowers may appear throughout the year. Photographed in Florida.
