Hoya kanyakumariana has a hanging cluster of small fuzzy white star-shaped flowers with dark red centers against rounded green leaves

Hoya kanyakumariana

Native to the Kanyakumari area of Tamil Nadu in southern India, this small climbing vine has wiry stems and a compact, slow-growing habit. Its light to olive-green leaves are broadly rounded toward their tips and have wavy margins. Small flowers gather in clusters, with white corolla lobes surrounding a white crown that becomes purplish red toward the center. The blooms have a strong musky fragrance. It grows on trees or rocks in wet tropical habitats and is classified as critically endangered in India. Photographed in Florida.
