Hemerocallis lilioasphodelus
Originating in Eurasia, the Yellow Daylily, is a perennial plant that grows in clumps with leaves extending to about 30 inches in length. The plant produces sweetly fragrant, lemon-yellow flowers, each carried on scapes bearing 3 to 9 blossoms. Its young leaves, shoots, and flower buds can be consumed either raw or cooked. The flower buds provide a nutritious boost, moreover, traditional medicine has utilized the juice of its roots as an antidote for arsenic poisoning. Photographed in Colombia.
