Hemerocallis Hybrid (Daylily)
Developed from daylilies native to Asia, garden hybrids are perennial plants bred for a wide range of flower colors and forms. Clumps of long, narrow leaves arise from the base, while separate leafless flowering stalks carry several buds. Each flower generally remains open for just one day, but successive buds extend the display. The blooms usually have six spreading segments, prominent stamens, and a long slender style. Plants are commonly propagated by dividing established clumps to preserve their characteristics. Photographed in Florida.
