Originating from southern South America. A spectrum of cultivars has been developed. The cultivars that have received the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit include ‘Claret’, ‘Donalena Lavender Grace’ from the Donalena Series, the Quartz Series, ‘Silver Anne’, ‘Sissinghurst’, and ‘Toronto’​​.
