Originating from the high-altitude regions of Peru, Bolivia, and Argentina, it is a large shrub and an ornamental plant known for its bright red, tubular flowers. It has naturalized in Colombia. The plant bears edible berries. Photographed in the eastern Andes mountain range of Colombia.
