Epidendrum radicans

Native from Mexico to Colombia. This orchid can adapt to a spectrum of climates from warm to cold, manifesting as a terrestrial or lithophyte plant. It’s a perennial, standing about two and a half to three feet tall, with multiple green stems and an abundance of white roots that lend support as the plant colony expands. As the plant matures, clusters of up to forty flowers may emerge, offering a display that contributes to its common use as an ornamental plant in gardens. ​Photographed in Pereira, Colombia.
