Echeveria elegans (Mexican Snowball)
Native to Mexico, this perennial succulent herb forms low clumps of evergreen rosettes. Its spoon-shaped leaves have a pale, whitish-green surface. Arching flower stalks carry lantern-shaped pink blooms with yellow tips, arranged mostly along one side of the stalk. Flowering occurs in late winter and spring. New rosettes develop around mature plants to enlarge the clump. Leaf cuttings can be used to raise new plants. Photographed in Colombia.
