Dietes bicolor white flower with brown marks bordered by orange
Dietes bicolor (African iris )

Dietes bicolor originates from South Africa. This clump-forming rhizomatous perennial has long, sword-like evergreen pale green leaves. The African iris has adapted well to mild temperate zones across the globe. The plant produces pale yellow flowers marked with three dark purple spots that could appear almost black, each surrounded by an orange outline. The flowers last for just one day; however, the plant continuously produces many buds, ensuring almost constant flowering. It's drought-tolerant and can be propagated by seed or division of rhizomes.
