Cuphea cordata

Native from central Peru through Bolivia to Jujuy in northwestern Argentina, it is a perennial subshrub or shrub. Its leafy branches bear hairs, including sticky gland-tipped hairs on the flowering shoots. The leaves are oval to lance-shaped, often pointed, with veins that stand out beneath. Flowers have a thick, hairy tubular calyx and strongly unequal petals: two large, rounded upper petals and four much smaller lower petals. The longer stamens project beyond the floral tube.
