Crocosmia × crocosmiiflora (Montbretia)
A hybrid plant that originated from garden cultivation. Its parent species are native to South Africa, but Montbretia itself has become widespread and is found in many parts of the world. Montbretia forms dense clumps and produces arching spikes of funnel-shaped orange flowers. Montbretia has developed numerous cultivars and hybrids. The plant is invasive in parts of the United States, the Andes, and Europe. Photographed in Bogotá, Colombia.
