Coelogyne tomentosa

Native to peninsular Thailand, the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, and Java, it is an orchid that grows on tree trunks and major branches in mountain forests, and sometimes on steep limestone cliffs. Closely grouped, oval swollen stems called pseudobulbs support long, prominently veined leaves. Hanging flower clusters usually carry ten to thirty flowers that open at about the same time. The sepals and petals are pale greenish yellow. Each flower has a cream-colored, three-lobed lip with brown markings, three raised ridges near its base, and a mass of yellow, wartlike projections toward the tip.
