Citrus maxima (Pummelo)
Traces its roots to Southeastern Asia and the East Indian Archipelago. One of the original citrus species. It is the largest citrus fruit and tastes much like a grapefruit, which is a hybrid of the pomelo. As an evergreen, the pummelo takes the form of a tree, its boughs often weeping under the weight of its mammoth, round to pear-shaped fruits that bear a resemblance to grapefruits. Photographed in northern Colombia.
