The Maguari stork is a species of stork found in South America. It is distinguished by its large size, with an average height ranging from 3 feet 2 inches to 3 feet 11 inches, and a wingspan of about 5 feet 1 inch to 5 feet 11 inches. Males typically weigh around 9.3 pounds, while females average about 8.4 pounds. The plumage of the Maguari stork is primarily white, with black flight feathers and a forked black tail, which is shorter than the stiff white under-tail coverts, making these protrude underneath the tail. This tail structure is unique and aids in aerodynamics during flight. In flight, the Maguari stork presents an impressive sight, soaring high above the ground, with its neck and legs extended. It takes three long jumps to take off from the ground and flaps its wings at a rate of 181 beats per minute.
