Bright red Canna × generalis flower in sunlight with yellow markings
Canna × generalis

Commonly known as the Garden Canna, this hybrid is likely the offspring of Canna indica and either Canna glauca or Canna iridiflora. Originating from tropical and subtropical regions in North and South America as well as India, it has since been widely cultivated. The plant has become a favored ornamental choice due to its large, vibrant flowers that span a spectrum of colors including white, cream, yellow, orange, pink, coral, salmon, red, or even bicolored depending on the cultivar. Photographed in Colombia.
