Buddleja madagascariensis
Native to Madagascar, this vigorous evergreen shrub has long, spreading branches and usually grows about 5 to 13 feet tall. Its dark green leaves have pale, felted undersides, and young shoots are covered with whitish hairs. Slender clusters of sweetly scented, tubular flowers range from yellow to orange or salmon. The small, round fruits ripen blue-violet. It has escaped cultivation and is naturalized in New South Wales, Australia, and is an invasive environmental weed in New Zealand. Photographed in Florida.
