Brachyotum microdon is native to the high-elevation páramo and cloud forests of Peru. The plant is especially striking for its pendulous clusters of tubular flowers, each with a bright red calyx enveloping deep violet to purple petals, often with elongated floral tubes. Photographed in southern Peru.
