Brachyotum ledifolium
Native to high-altitude regions of the Andes in Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru, Brachyotum ledifolium is a compact, woody shrub adapted to páramo and sub-páramo ecosystems. Its distinctive flowers have thick, velvety red calyces that enclose and protect the developing blooms, from which slender, tubular corollas emerge, most often white but sometimes tinged with pale pink.
