Black Rocks, Colombia (Piedras Negras)
Located south of Route 70 near the town of Ábrego in the Norte de Santander Department, the area known as Piedras Negras—or Black Rocks—features a curious geological landscape consisting of scattered dark rock formations that stand out against the surrounding rural terrain. These rock outcrops, varying in size and shape, are thought to be the result of ancient volcanic or metamorphic activity, giving them their dark, almost black appearance. The surrounding area is part of the eastern slopes of the Eastern Andes and is semi-arid.
