Calima Lake, Colombia

Lake Calima, known in Spanish as Lago Calima, is located in the Darién municipality north of Cali, in the Valle del Cauca Department of Colombia. It is the largest artificial lake in the country, with a surface elevation of about 5,000 feet above sea level. The lake is a favored destination for tourists seeking water sports activities such as windsurfing, kitesurfing, and sailing, due to the area's strong and consistent winds. Additionally, Lake Calima is instrumental in generating hydroelectric power. Hydroelectricity accounts for approximately 65% of Colombia's total electricity production.
