Originates from the region spanning Panama to Northern Venezuela and Ecuador. A tendril climber distinguished by its compound, opposite leaves, usually accompanied by a tendril, and its inflorescence manifests in either axillary or terminal cymes​. Mature vines can flower continuously throughout the year, usually in a burst of floral displays  Photographed in Armenia and Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Colombia.
