Axonopus scoparius
Axonopus scoparius is a perennial grass species native to tropical and subtropical regions of the Americas, thriving in open fields, savannas, and disturbed areas, often forming dense stands. It produces slender, erect stems topped with narrow, reddish spikelets arranged in an open panicle. The leaves are linear, flat, and coarse in texture, adapted to withstand seasonal drought and heavy grazing. Photographed in Colombia.
