Aranda Prapin bears a branching cluster of pale lavender flowers with purple lips

Aranda Prapin

A cultivated orchid hybrid, Aranda Prapin combines ancestry from the tropical Asian orchid genera Arachnis and Vanda. Its registered parentage is Aranda Christine crossed with Vanda Rasri Gold. Aranda plants grow from a continuing upright stem rather than a series of pseudobulbs, with leaves arranged along the stem and roots emerging above ground. Prapin is grown in several color selections, including a yellow-flowered form maintained by Singapore’s National Parks Board. Photographed in Florida.
