Large orange and pale green arrow-shaped aroid leaves rise from thick stems with aerial roots around a tree trunk

Araceae (species unidentified)

This climbing aroid is an herbaceous plant that anchors itself to trees with aerial roots growing from its stems. Aroids have tiny flowers clustered on a fleshy spike called a spadix, accompanied by a modified leaf called a spathe. Depending on the species, flies, beetles or bees pollinate the flowers, attracted by sweet or sometimes unpleasant scents. Photographed in Colombia.
