Androlaechmea O'Rourke has branching clusters of pale pink-tipped berries beside reddish sword-shaped leaves

× Androlaechmea 'O'Rourke'

A horticultural bromeliad hybrid associated with Florida collections, this plant combines Androlepis and Aechmea ancestry, although its original crossing records are uncertain. Stiff, sword-shaped leaves form a large funnel-shaped rosette and can develop deep red coloring. A branched flowering stalk produces clusters of pale berries with pink tips. The name honors Fay O’Rourke, who questioned a plant originally distributed as Androlepis skinneri and helped bring attention to its hybrid identity. Photographed in Florida.
