Amazona amazonica (Orange-winged Amazon)
The Orange-winged Amazon, is a notable resident of tropical South America. Its range includes a swath from Colombia, Trinidad and Tobago, through to Peru, Bolivia, and central Brazil. This bird has adapted to various environments, from forests to semi-open territories, and is even found in urban areas. This species is fairly common, and is classified as 'Least Concern' by the IUCN Red List. The bird has been introduced to Puerto Rico and Tenerife in the Canary Islands. Orange-winged Amazons are captured for the pet trade. Photographed in the department of Magdalena, Colombia.
