Alloispermum caracasanum
Native from Colombia and Venezuela south to Peru, this perennial climber can develop into a scrambling shrub with woody stems reaching about 10 feet. It grows along Andean forest edges and roadsides. Branched clusters of daisy-like flower heads have white outer florets and yellow tubular flowers in the center. The bracts surrounding the heads may be tinged reddish purple. In the Bogotá region, it has been propagated from cuttings for projects restoring native forests and shrublands. Photographed in Colombia.
