Allamanda cathartica var. hendersonii (Golden Trumpet Vine)
Native from northern South America to northern Bolivia, this evergreen climbing shrub has woody stems that can reach about 20 feet over supporting vegetation. Large yellow trumpet-shaped flowers bloom freely throughout the year in warm climates and attract bees and butterflies. Its prickly capsules split open to release winged seeds. It is propagated by stem cuttings. It has naturalized in Florida and is invasive in northern Queensland, Australia. All parts are poisonous if eaten, and its milky sap can irritate skin. Photographed in Colombia and Ecuador.
