Allamanda cathartica ‘Williamsii’
This cultivated evergreen climbing shrub has fragrant, semi-double yellow flowers with extra petals around the center. Its wild species is native from northern South America to northern Bolivia. Its long, woody stems scramble over surrounding vegetation. Cuttings are used to propagate the cultivar. The species has naturalized in Florida and parts of Australia and is invasive in northern Queensland. All parts are poisonous if eaten, and the milky sap can irritate skin and eyes. Photographed in Minca, Colombia.
