Upright, wavy grey-green leaves with thick yellow margins
Agave americana (Century Plant)

Native to Mexico the Century Plant is renowned for its impressive inflorescence, which blooms only once in its lifetime, typically after 10 to 30 years of growth. The flowering stalk can soar to impressive heights, sometimes reaching up to 30 feet or more. Its long, thick, and fleshy leaves form a rosette shape, often exceeding six feet in length. The leaves' edges are adorned with sharp spines. The fibers from its leaves, known as sisal, are durable for crafting ropes, mats, and other textiles. Photographed in Bogotá, Colombia.
