Oncidium Goldiana has a yellow orchid with broad pleated lip

Oncidium Goldiana

Developed from a cross between Gomesa flexuosa and Oncidium sphacelatum, this perennial hybrid orchid produces branching sprays of yellow flowers. Their broad lips resemble the skirts that give dancing-lady orchids their common name. It has been grown commercially for cut flowers in Singapore and is a parent of other familiar yellow-flowered hybrids, including Gower Ramsey and Aloha Iwanaga. It was among the early orchid hybrids created at Singapore Botanic Gardens and is popular for Lunar New Year displays. Photographed in Florida.
