Aechmea 'Pepita Elegant Flames'

This cultivated evergreen bromeliad forms a compact rosette of firm leaves with a silvery cast. Its conspicuous flower display combines red-orange bracts with smaller flowers held in the central inflorescence. Plants commonly reach about one to one and a half feet in height. As in other Aechmea selections, the flowering rosette produces offsets, which become the next generation of the plant after the original rosette declines. Photographed in Florida.
