Aloe Rooikappie has branching clusters of orange-red tubular flowers with pale yellow tips

Aloe 'Rooikappie'

A horticultural hybrid introduced by South African grower Cynthia Giddy, this succulent perennial forms compact rosettes about 12 inches across. Its fleshy leaves are attractively spotted, and repeated flower stalks carry orange-red tubular blooms with paler tips. Aloe sinkatana is its only known parent; the other parent has not been identified. The cultivar name means Little Red Riding Hood in Afrikaans. Photographed in Florida.
