Trichostigma peruvianum

Native from southern Colombia to Peru, Trichostigma peruvianum is a tropical shrub of wet forest. Broad simple leaves grow along branching stems, and long slender racemes carry numerous small flowers. The blossoms are followed by fleshy berries that mature along the pendent or arching flower axes. Its branches may extend through surrounding vegetation. Photographed in Colombia.
