Quesnelia quesneliana tall vivid pink-red inflorescence rising from a leafy rosette

Quesnelia quesneliana

A terrestrial or epiphytic bromeliad native to southeastern Brazil, Quesnelia quesneliana inhabits humid Atlantic Forest environments. A tall narrow inflorescence rises from a funnel-shaped leaf rosette and is densely covered by vivid pink-red bracts. Small blue-violet flowers emerge between the bracts as the spike matures. The overlapping leaves collect water around the plant’s central growing point. Photographed in Florida.
