Psammisia ecuadorensis


An evergreen epiphytic or terrestrial shrub native to Ecuador, Psammisia ecuadorensis belongs to the blueberry family and grows in humid Andean forests. Pendant clusters carry elongated red tubular flowers that grade to yellow-green near their narrow openings. The leathery leaves have prominent longitudinal veins and frame the hanging inflorescences.
