Psammisia aberrans pendant red tubular flowers with white tips hanging from a mossy branch

Psammisia aberrans

Psammisia aberrans is an epiphytic or terrestrial shrub native to Ecuador. Woody stems carry leathery leaves and hanging clusters of narrow tubular flowers. Each flower grades from vivid red near the base to white at the flared tip, with the blossoms suspended beneath the branches. The species grows in humid tropical forest. Research-grade observations document the exact species in Ecuador. Photographed in Colombia.
